RASPO play at WOMAD 2009 - 24-26 July Charlton Park Malmsbury Wiltshire

Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra will perform at WOMAD's only UK festival in Charlton Park, Malmsbury, Wiltshire. The orchestra players were overjoyed to receive the news and are busy preparing an exciting new show for the thousands who attend the annual World of Music Arts and Dance event.

RASPO will appear in the Siam tent on Saturday at noon. The Siam is the second largest WOMAD stage with a capacity of five thousand people. RASPO's debut CD album 'RASPO Live' will be launched at the festival. The show will feature a twenty-two piece orchestra with costumes, dancers and featuring award winning pan virtuoso and calypsonian Michael 'Bubbles' Oliviere. RASPO will pay homage to the Jackson 5, the King of Pop Michael Jackson and Calypso Grandmaster Lord Kitchener.

The orchestra plan to host a sneak preview of the show in Reading prior to the performance. More information coming soon.

RASPO's function ensemble are the planning group for the orchestra's WOMAD performance at Charlton Park on Saturday 25 July. They will play in the Siam tent at noon.

With a capacity of five thousand the Siam tent has the second largest WOMAD stage hosting artists like Billy Cobham, Finlay Quaye, Misty in Roots and Nitin Sawhney.
