CultureMix Films

In 2012 CultureMix focussed on raising the profile of it's work with RASPO through a marketing and promotion strategy.

The first step involved creating a short promotional film summarising the work of CultureMix in three minutes.

CultureMix director Mary Genis worked with Ricky Greaves, an experienced promotional filmmaker and the brains behind Bespoke Video. Ricky, an accomplished musician, also wrote and produced the original film scores.

What is CultureMix?

The second film focusses on RASPO's attendance at the Mayor of London Boris Johnson's giant Olympic Rings launch on the River Thames by Tower Bridge.

The film, 'RASPO's Olympic Journey' captures the excitement as well as the planning and logistics involved in preparing the orchestra for the world's press and media.

RASPO's Olympic journey

The third and final film offers a revealing insight into the work of CultureMix as RASPO embarks on a tour of seven London Boroughs for the 2012 Festival during the Olympic Games.

The film, 'The Steel Band - how it works' answers some of the frequently asked questions including how a steel band is set up and how steel pan instruments are made.

The Steel Band - how it works

With Ricky Greaves providing the voiceover, this informative and comprehensive film is an ideal introduction to the culture of steel pan music that encapsulates Britain's unique diversity.

Along with two recorded CDs, the films enable CultureMix to continue positive promotion and growth, to help maintain the future of steel pan music in the UK.
