RASPO at Royal Albert Hall - BBC Proms

RASPO joined the BBC Proms Family Orchestra and Chorus directed by Lincoln Abbots for a Family Matinee Prom taking a journey to the far corners of our musical world.

With words and music contributed by poet Ian McMillan and arranger Jason Yarde 'Wish You Were Here' brought to life the wonder and surprise of a family visit to London.

Written around a series of postcards from North, West, East and South London each offered a sprinkling of klezmer, Carnival, bhangra, soul and the chimes of Big Ben.

RASPO represented the West London postcard with a calypso contribution on steel pans coinciding with Notting Hill Carnival taking place the same day as the live BBC Radio 3 broadcast from The Royal Albert Hall.

For the second half RASPO joined the BBC Proms Family Chorus and the Northern Sinfonia for a performance of four spirituals with the multi-award-winning Blind Boys of Alabama.
