Music for Youth Festival

RASPO's under 21's junior orchestra took part in the Music for Youth Regional Festival

Music for Youth (MFY) is the world's largest youth music festival takes place in the UK throughout February and March. Over 50,000 musicians and singers take part in the Regional Festivals providing a unique opportunity for groups to perform to new audiences, listen to other groups from their area and get valuable feedback from the team of MFY Music Mentors.

The Regional Festivals are sponsored ABRSM, the exam board of the Royal Schools of Music.

For RASPO's first ever MFY performance the ten young musicians aged from 12 to twenty-one played Mozart's Rondo Alla Turka, 'Begging' by Crazy, and Arrow's 'Feeling Hot' to showcase the versatility of the steel pan instrument.

Although not chosen to take part in the National Festival in Birmingham well done to Beau and Tim on basses, Charlie on guitar pans, Aisha on double seconds, and Rosie, Isobel, Tanisha, Anisha and Godley on tenor pans. Thanks to Jamah for playing drums.
