Carnival of the World

Carnival of the World is a celebration of cultural diversity through music and arts workshops, business training and performance tours. All are welcome to join the project with a particular focus on young people aged 14-19 years.

The project will effectively combine creative learning with business skills development to music, costumes, flags and performances representing Asia, Africa, South America, Europe and the Caribbean at spectacular Carnival parades in Reading, Nottingham and at London's Notting Hill Carnival.

Learn steel pan and help to create new music for the third RASPO CD with guest composer and jazz saxophonist Jason Yarde.

Carnival of the World is a CultureMix event for Reading 2016 Year of Culture in partnership with Reading Refocus, supported using public funding by Arts Council England, Reading Business Improvement District as part of the ARENA town centre free arts and culture programme, and Reading Borough Council through The Cultural Partnership.

About Business Skills training

Develop your Business Skills

14 to 19 year olds can register for free business skills training, development and work experience to help improve employability and increase opportunity.

The training programme launches in the Autumn with a free business seminar on Friday 28 October 2016 5pm - 7pm in Art Block 1 at Reading College.

The seminar is an introduction to the free courses covering events, finance, admin, social media, marketing, promotion, products, services and hands on work experience.

New skills gained include:
How to set up a business.
Finance and funding.
Spreadsheets
Project management
Client liaison and management
Administration
Sales and invoices
