PRESS RELEASE
Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra presents
The Engine Room Collective & Guests
At South Street Arts Centre, Reading
Sunday 26 October 2008 7pm - 10.30pm

Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra hosts a second event for steel pan music lovers at South Street Arts Centre on Sunday 26 October 2008 to celebrate Black History Month.

The event features Caribbean jazz favourites The Engine Room Collective founded and established in 1999 by award winning pannist and drummer Matthew Phillip, leader of Mangrove Steel Band, to back and showcase the UK's top pan soloists.

The evening will feature guest soloists Susannah McCaulley, captain of Glissando Steel Band, and Carleen Etienne also known as 'Sweet Wrists' who combines her vocals with steel pan.

There will be an exclusive performance from Michael 'Bubbles' Oliviere, the man behind the seminal and heavily sampled hit 'Heaven and Hell is on Earth'. As many as fifteen different artists have used Michael's signature tune in their own work, including Jungle Brothers, Salt N Pepper, and most famously, Jennifer Lopez on her worldwide smash hit 'Jenny from the Block'. Bubbles will be performing songs from his recently released reggae and steel pan album Unfinished Business / Soon Come.

RASPO will showcase new songs from their repertoire led by young talented players Kisha Lowe and captain Nathifa Jordan. The evening closes with RASPO and their guests performing together in an exciting finale.

Tickets cost £5 per person or £18 for a family of four to include at least one adult and one child and can be booked through the box office on 0118 9606060, www.readingarts.com
