Reggae Fridays - Open Mic Night

Welcome to the first Reggae Friday Open Mic event of 2023 celebrating the Crown Prince of Reggae Dennis Brown.

The event features Dennis Seaton – the Jamaican Soul and R&B recording artist and record producer, best known as the frontman of the British Jamaican reggae band Musical Youth

With performances from talented reggae singer songwriter Jnr Watson, guest artists and talented singers from the Reading Reggae Collective the evening will also celebrates reggae music earthdays of Bob Marley and Dennis Brown.

The event on Friday 3 February at 7-11.30pm is at the CultureMix Arts & Music Centre in Reading. end of year celebration with top quality live music from the best British reggae musicians with drummer Carl ‘Carlalou’ Benjamin (The Wailers, Julian Marley, Lee Perry, Dawn Penn), keyboard player Cyrus ‘Monkites’ Richard (Black Uhuru, Mighty Diamonds, Abyssinians), Reggae Collective stalwart guitarist Derick Andrews (Boney M, Aqua Livi), all led by Grammy award winning producer, bass guitar supremo and musical director Don Chandler.

With selecta DJ Lou Mulato spinning tunes in between acts, the bar opens from 7pm with a sizzling selection of Caribbean beers, spirits and soft drinks.

We welcome musicians, singers, rappers and spoken word artists to sign up and take part in the Open Mic from 9pm to 10pm. Booking in advance is recommended.
