Distant Mix III - Hot Hot Hot

Ylê De Egbá NE Brazil 2020

Our CultureMix Carnival video with RASPO features Brazilian afoxé group Ylê de Egbá live and direct from Recife.

With lockdown easing CultureMix brought together forty musicians, carnivalists, members of RASPO Steel Orchestra, Reading Reggae Collective and Ylê De Egbá to record and film for this international collaboration video.

For this exciting celebration of Carnival reggae artist Jnr Watson joins the Reading Reggae Collective singers, Grammy award winning bass player Don Chandler, Jah Herbert on guitar, Kwame Richardson from Stelphonic on tenor pan, and on drums and vocals Jamah Lynam who also led the RASPO dance routines whilst maintaining social distance.

CultureMix Family presents Hot Hot Hot – a carnival celebration with RASPO Yle de Egba and guests.

Ylê De Egbá recorded and filmed their contribution from their terriero (residence) in the hillside community of Alto José do Pinho in Recife NE Brazil.

Showcasing their fabulous costumes, dancing and mastery of their Afoxé percussion instruments brings an authentic carnival atmosphere to this international collaboration.
