At the CultureMix Arts & Music Centre we provide steel pan music education for all ages. Based in Reading UK we offer a range of courses for young ambitious musicians.
We work in partnership with schools and Music Education Hubs across the region to provide a series of curriculum based weekly music lessons for class sizes and specialised clubs either before or after school for smaller groups.
Introduction to Steel Pan
Learn about the history and origins of steel pan music at a recital and presentation with our steel pan music specilists. Including instrument demonstration, a live performance, a short film, audience participation, and questions and answers.
Schools Steel Pan Music Taster Workshops
Taster workshops are an ideal way to introduce steel pan music to your school through a day of hands on introductory workshops with expert tutors and a full set of steel pan instruments provided. Programmed to suit your school timetable each workshop covers the history and origins of steel pan, basic playing techniques and learning a simple song for an optional assembly concert.

Schools Weekly Music Lessons
Our Schools Music service offers a series of curriculum based weekly steel pan music lessons for class sizes and smaller groups. Classes are ideal for first access to music in primary schools with curriculum links to history, geography, economics and culture.
For secondary schools we set up steel percussion ensembles and support development towards music exams including GSCE Music.
Before and after school clubs are also a good progression option for children and students wanting to develop as an ensemble for performance in a more relaxed environment.
As a partner with Music Hubs in Berkshire, Slough and Hampshire we offer specialised tutors so school children get a chance to play an instrument and experience music free of charge.
