The new CultureMix Arts & Music Centre opened on 9 September 2021 at 7 Queens Walk outside the Broad Street Mall.
The launch event welcomed an invited delegation of stakeholders, project participants and VIPs with performances from RASPO and the Reading Reggae Collective.
The CultureMix Arts & Music Centre specialises in carnival including all aspects of steel pan music where you can purchase steel pan musical instruments and accessories, join a workshop and book a steel band for your event.
Celebrating African Caribbean culture the centre is a new home for Reading’s award winning steel band RASPO (Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra) and The Reading Reggae Collective led by Grammy Award winning producer Don Chandler.
The Centre also offers while you wait tuning and repair services, educational visits for schools, one to one music lessons, fun group workshops for all ages, and a range of opportunities to experience authentic carnival arts and Black music.
Broad Street Mall is centrally located in the heart of Reading, an affluent Thames Valley commuter town of approximately 669,000 people. The shopping centre provides 400,000 sq.ft. of retail space for 85 shops including large stores like TK Maxx and Wilko with an average footfall of approximately 170,000 people per week and 750 parking spaces.
