For May we are celebrating Dionne Williams who is part of RASPO Steel Orchestra and the Reading Reggae Collective.
Dionne joined the Steel Band Beginner classes and soon progressed to Bootcamp to prepare joining the orchestra. Dionne now performs live with RASPO including at the 2025 London Notting Hill Carnival.
I joined RASPO beginners in early 2023 after deciding I wanted a new challenge and fell in love with steel pan very quickly. Learning steel pan at CultureMix Arts has opened up a whole new creative path, challenging at times, but equally uplifting as I begin to find my rhythm and sound within it.”
Dionne is also part of Reading Reggae Collective and has become an established leading member of the vocal cohort.
“Being part of Reading Reggae Collective as a vocalist has been an incredibly rewarding journey for me. It’s given me the space to grow in confidence, refine my voice, and truly connect with music on a deeper level.”

“What makes this experience so special is the people. Being surrounded by such talented, driven, and supportive individuals is a real blessing. There’s a genuine sense of community, everyone encourages each other to improve, celebrates progress, and shares knowledge freely. It’s an environment that pushes me to keep developing while also reminding me to enjoy the process.”
Dionne continues to make a positive contribution to CultureMix Arts projects with her enthusiasm, energy and effervescent personality. Her progress both as a singer with the Reggae Collective and learning steel pan with RASPO inspires others to achieve regardless of age or experience.
