Nu Heights returns to CultureMix Centre on Saturday 12 October from 7pm.
The Nu Heights event is a showcase of new wave of British Jazz featuring live music and guest DJs.
We’ve got PHON, the illest trio of bass drums and keys, and YES STAR!, our new collective of instrumentalists and vocalists, appealing to everyone from jazz cats to junglists alike.
You host for the evening is Ash The Author with ILL Collins & LUTHER ANDROSS (Soho Radio / Certain Sounds / Gold Dust Radio) blessing the decks.
After the success of our improvisation sessions, we’ve put together another strong lineup of musicians, DJ’s, producers and vocalists from the local scene.
PHON is a jazz 3 piece who draw influences from modern pioneers including the Richard Spaven Trio, Jojo Mayer’s Nerve and the Vels Trio as well as demonstrating 90s Drum & Bass and Hip hop sounds.
Their tunes serve as launching off points for improvisatory explorations, while laying down hooks and always maintaining a strong sense of groove.
