A launch event showcasing the new wave of British Jazz with live trio Phon, host Ash The Author, and DJ’s.
Nu Heights kicks off in Reading with a fusion of new wave elements and British Jazz.
Featuring live trio PHON with improvisatory explorations influenced by Drum & Bass hooks, Hip Hop grooves, and modern Jazz pioneers like The Richard Spaven Trio, Jojo Mayer’s Nerve and Vels Trio.
Also appearing live, and your host for the evening is the Reading based, UK Hip hop stalwart ASH THE AUTHOR (Village Live/Astro Unit)

Nu Heights returned to CultureMix Arts on Saturday 16 September for an evening celebrating the sounds and influences of the New British Jazz Movement.
For this event we are joined by PHON, a jazz 3 piece who draw influences from modern pioneers including the Richard Spaven Trio, Jojo Mayer’s Nerve and the Vels Trio as well as demonstrating 90s Drum & Bass and Hip hop sounds.
Their tunes serve as launching off points for improvisatory explorations, while laying down hooks and always maintaining a strong sense of groove.
We are also curating a one-off live jam session on the night featuring some of the most accomplished musicians, DJ’s, Producers and vocalists in the local scene. More info on the musicians who are appearing will be published nearer the time
