Music lovers turned up at South Street Arts Centre for a celebration evening of Caribbean music hosted by CultureMix Arts.
The Black History Month event kicked off with an eclectic mix of Latin and Caribbean music from DJ Louie followed by a live set from Reading’s favourite steel band.
RASPO rolled out a twenty-two piece orchestra to premiere a brand new repertoire of popular songs dynamically refashioned by the arrangers and artistic team at CultureMix. The set showcased the versatility and vibrancy of the steel pan instrument.
Next up were roots reggae sound system Jah Lion Movement who got the crowd bobbing and bubbling ready for a second half of live dub reggae courtesy of The Mighty Dub Generators.
With vocalist Junior Watson at the helm MDG presented the enthusiastic audience with a first performance of reggaefied indie rock favourites The Model and Horse with no Name.
