The Blue Peter film crew arrived in force at the CultureMix Arts & Music Centre on Sunday 2 October to film a story about how steel pans are made.
Music Director of CultureMix Arts Paul Watson explained the steel pan making and tuning process to Blue Peter presenter Richie Driss who had a go at hammering a note into tune.
Richie joined the RASPO Children’s Steel Band with his freshly tuned steel pan to play calypso music helped by 12 year old Admiah who explained how to hold the sticks and what notes to play.
With 14 year old drummer Taylon keeping the beat the steel band children Bertie, Caillen, Henry, Grace, Macy, Matilda, Max, Rosie, Russell, Zion and Admiah (9-12 years) played their hearts out and all received a coveted Blue Peter badge for their efforts.
